Billy White
Arstanda (Billy) White is a natural story teller. He weaves a tale
around each picture he paints. He often has several stories and
paintings going on at the same time.
White draws everywhere he goes.As White travels on the train to and
from NIAD he will draw people on the train. His portraits are done in a
simple "pop" style which is amazingly expressive. The wonder of White
is that he was naturally right handed but lost the use of his right arm
at the age of 7 and has learned to use his left hand .
In 1994 he came
to NIAD with a wad of drawings stuffed into a sock. The Achenbach
Foundation Collection in San Francisco has acquired one of his prints.
His work is exhibited widely and is in a traveling show currently at
the American Visionary Museum. |
